Rest in peace Brolly boy

This past weekend was very sad and emotional for our family.  We lost our beloved black lab Brolly.  Brolly has been in our family for the last 10 years and our hearts are broken as we had to say goodbye.  I am writing this post as a remembrance to our big boy.

Brolly you were our first child, our companion, our best friend, the most wonderful dog a family could ask for and the list goes on.  You will be missed by many but especially your family at home.  You were survived by your Mommy, Daddy, sister Emery and your partner in crime Griffin.

I still remember the day we met you at the Humane Society.  I sent your dad to go look at another dog I saw on the news one morning who was also up for adoption.  When he got there that dog had already been placed in a home and then he found you.  When we got there you were just a pup, only 4 months old.  You were so clam and cool compared to all the other dogs there.  We played with you for a while and knew right then we had to take you home.  We had to wait two days so that they could update your shots and neuter you; their rules.  When we finally picked you up you were such a crazy happy typical lab puppy.  I remember all the energy you had and that never went away even as you aged :)  You got into so much trouble as a puppy as you destroyed everything in site.  Eventually you learned to behave and burned that energy elsewhere.

We had so many fun memories with you including our camping trip to the lake with friends, going to the beach, playing in the backyard, along with so many other times that we will never forget.  You will never be forgotten Brolly boy.  You brought so much joy to our lives even when you drove me crazy with your shedding hair :)

I am so happy we were chosen to be your parents.  I feel such a void just writing this and missing you so much already. Our hearts and home are empty without you.  I miss hearing your collar clink together, and your tip taps across the wood floors; things just aren't the same without you here.  I am so sorry you got sick and that it all happened so quickly.  You were so tired and lethargic the past couple of days and just not your bouncy self.  I hope that you know we loved you every minute of everyday and hope that you are resting in doggy heaven.. We promise we will see you again one day.  you can drink all the water in the world now without having to pee every two minutes and can run free and as fast and as far as you want.

You will always be our first baby boy and we will love you forever!  Kisses and loves your family :)

Rest in Peace.

I'm Back and with a 16 month update :)

***DISCLAIMER- I am having technical difficulties (surprise) loading pictures to this post :( For now it is just a narrative.  Hope to have pictures posted soon****

Well it has come to my attention that I have been MIA for the past 4 months!  Wow has it really been that long?!!!! It was a goal of mine this year to make this blog my own and really commit to it, however life and my time has taken a different course unfortunately.  I would really love for this blog to get its own special look and feel, but again that takes time and someone with talent doing these sort of things to help me out. So with all that said this blog will be my work in progress and I am going to TRY VERY HARD to keep updating weekly if only to post a simple picture :)

I am telling you running after a now 16 month old toddler is TOUGH!  I clearly was not prepared for this stage at all, but frankly how can you be. I thought since today Emery is 16 months that I desperately needed to update for the sake of documentation since so much has changed in just the last 4 months.

You love running around causing mischief, you talk non-stop but nothing of which we quite understand yet, you are into EVERYTHING, you love the puppy dogs, your favorite time of day is bath time, though you HATE getting out of the bath even when the water is all gone. You love going to Grandma and Grandpa's house, you love brushing your teeth, and you love your cuddles when you are tired.

You are sleeping pretty well now.  You generally go to bed at around 8:00pm and then will toss and turn at about 1:00pm for a bottle, but then will fall asleep until about 6:30am.  You still wake up from time to time from a bad dream, but just need some cuddles to make it all better.  You generally take 2 naps during the day which range from an hour or two.  You hate sleeping in your own room and most of the time sleep in your pack in play in mommy and daddy's room.  We are hoping you will start to like your room soon :)

You are such a good eater!  There is nothing you won't try and we haven't found anything that you hate when it comes to food.  You are not a huge fan of Swiss cheese but you will eat it if given.  We are so very thankful you are not a picky eater and hope that does not change.  You always want what everyone else is having and you are always standing by your own bite.

You have 12 teeth now.  6 on top and 6 on bottom.  You have your first year molars in on the top and bottom.  That was not a fun process for you to break in those bad boys.  Teething has been hard for you.  Every time you start to teeth you get them in pairs and run high fevers.  The molars were especially hard because you also had an ear infection during that time.  We are hoping that we are done for a little while, because you are a much happier baby when not breaking in teeth.

You are still wearing 18 month clothing but not for much longer.  You have had another growth spurt, which means we need to start shopping for 24 month size.  You are still wearing a size 4 diaper and hoping to start your potty training soon. We purchased a cute Princess potty for you and you seem interested but not yet sure if you want to sit on it to go pee.  You love to take your diaper off and run around the house naked whenever you get the chance.  We hope this is your way of showing us that you are almost ready :) You still hate having your diaper changed and we can't figure out why.  We think you just hate diapers in general.

You say mama, dada, and now shoe!!!!  You talk A LOT but we have not translated all your babbles into actual words yet.  We are truly anxious to find out what you are saying.

Your favorite things to play with are your baby dolls, any type of bowls especially the dogs bowls, your many balls, your farm animal puzzle, your 'talk and say' which plays fun music, and you love cell phones!

These past several months have gone by in a flash, but we have had so much fun!

11 months

I say it every month but I cannot believe my baby girl is growing up so quickly!  Each month seems to just fly by.  Emmy continues to do new things each and every day and I am amazed by everything she does :) This time next month I will be posting her one year update!  I am already in full party planning mode and cannot wait to have her first birthday party.

Growth- Well at last check you weighed in at 20 lbs and were 29 inches tall.  You are still wearing 12 month clothing and size 3 diapers.  You most likely will be into 18 month clothing very soon.

New Happenings-This month you have learned to stand on your own for short-periods of time.  You are still hesitant on the hard floor but love standing on the bed where you aren't afraid to fall down :)  You have 6 teeth now, 4 on top and 2 still on the bottom.  You love to discover and get into new things.

Likes and Dislikes-  Bath time still seems to be your favorite time of day. You love to splash around and absolutely hate when mommy has to get you out.  You love to talk to whomever will listen at anytime of the day and are little Miss Social. You are not a fan of pictures anymore.  Really you just hate sitting still long enough for mommy's camera to take a picture.  You have learned how to throw fits when you don't get what you want.

Eating- You tried Mac and Cheese for the first time this month and LOVE everything about it! You are trying more and more things and there isn't anything that you don't like so far.  You are such a good eater and I am so thankful you aren't picky!

I will continue to say how blessed we are to have such a sweet baby girl!  We are so lucky that you are healthy and happy (most of the time :)  We love you lots Mimi!!!!

Kisses and hugs,
Your Mommy and Daddy

Baby Shower throwback post

Baby Shower One year ago on Onto Baby blog-  My baby shower was featured last year on this darling blog that I love!!!!  Here is the original post http://www.ontobaby.com/2012/09/darling-pink-baby-shower/ but thought I would share it on my own personal blog too :)  As I prepare to plan Emery's first birthday, I look back at just a year ago awaiting her arrival!  I will be posting party planning details this week of her first birthday that is just one month away!!!!

This darling baby shower, planned and designed by Ashley Shimer Event Design, is overflowing with pretty pink details. It was the perfect way to celebrate the little baby girl on the way for this lucky mom-to-be! The tone was set with gorgeous paper goods from Modern Moments Designs that are delicate and beautifully feminine. Latte Da in Vancouver, WA provided both a lovely venue for the event along with delicious catering. Guests satisfied their sweet tooth with beautiful cakes made by the expecting mom’s father, pink cake pops adorned with charms, french macarons, and fresh berries. They also had a bit of crafty fun making adorable headbands for the baby on the way at a headband station stocked with pretty embellishments. All of these lovely images were captured by Courtney Jade Photography, and you can see more in the full gallery.
